I have a hard time wrapping my head around the limitation. Is there any way to increase the speed of killing these pops via bombardment? Any game files need to be changed to increase the pop / infrastructure kill ratio? Like light = 10%, limited = 20%, full = 30%, armageddon = 50%, or something like that instead of 5% for most of them? I can understand the penalties for purging a peaceful or non-genocidal species / civ, but genociding a species / civ who actively engages in total genocide should be acceptable. So to avoid those stupid penalties, I have to genocide via bombardment rather than directly purging.

Why are there any penalties in regards to genociding or purging species or civs that want to genocide the rest of the galaxy? I'd be doing the galaxy a service by doing so, either as a good or evil empire. What's wrong with this picture?Ģ) I have to genocide the fanatical purifiers, otherwise they'll just rise up and purify stuff all over again. Oh, and primitive civs in Stellaris *can* genocide themselves in-game faster than space empires with big fleets of nasty weapons can. This bugs me for two reasons.ġ) Wouldn't a large fleet with advanced weapons be able to either carpet bomb the planet to genocide pops, or surgical strikes to kill pops but leave infrastructure intact? Even today's real life countries (primitives by Stellaris standards) could kill off 95% of our own population in a day of nuclear war, while it takes a decade or more to kill any significant population of a planet in galaxy level civilization / wars. My fleet has killed all planet fortifications very easily, but for some reason they can't seem to nuke cities, infrastructure, and pops on the planet.

Still don't have mid-level missiles yet, but do have nuclear missiles. My fleet is equipped with plasma cannons and kinetic batteries. I send a 20k fleet to one of his planets and start bombing it.

I'm progressing through my game, and finally got in a war with the fanatical purifiers next door.
